Pink sand

A secluded beach in Lombok's far south-east, locally called Tangsi, known for its faintly pink sand, made by fragments of red coral mixed with white sand, and its clear, calm turquoise water between dry hills. The water is good for swimming and snorkelling, and small boats leave from here for nearby uninhabited islands and lovely coral reefs, such as Gili Petelu and Gili Pasir. It is quiet and far from crowds, with simple services from village stalls. The fee is a token one and boats are priced by agreement. The road is long and rough at the end, about two and a half hours from Mataram or an hour and a half from Kuta. Come on a sunny day, when the pink shows best, and make it a day trip with the boat tour. Bring water, food and shade.

Both are faintly pink; Komodo's is more famous and reached by park boat tours, while Lombok's is reached by car and is quieter and cheaper.
