The Pinnacle@Duxton is a 50-storey public housing complex in central Singapore, next to the business district. Its seven connected towers are the world's tallest public residential buildings, linked by two sky gardens of 500 m each, and the upper skybridge on the 50th floor is open to outside visitors. Its design won a worldwide competition with 227 entries from 32 countries. In 2010 it received the Best Tall Building award for Asia and Australasia from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, and in 2011 a global award from the Urban Land Institute. The prime minister delivered his 2010 National Day message from its viewing gallery. Up top are paths, seats, small lawns and blue sculptures, and the bridges look over the financial skyline on one side and the port and Sentosa on the other. Chinatown and its red roofs lie below, and from street level the bridges seem to join the towers in mid-air. The skybridge is in a residential block, so respect residents, keep your voice down and do not wander the apartment floors. Sources say entry needs a transit card or registration, so check at the management office on the ground floor. It is 900 m in a straight line from Thian Hock Keng. Sunset is lovely, but confirm closing time, as access can change or stop during events.
