Cancún's best-known public beach, and one of the few in the Hotel Zone with no hotels behind it, so the soft white sand stretches along the turquoise and blue Caribbean with no towers blocking the sky. Above the beach is a small lookout with the big, colourful letters spelling «Cancún», the city's favourite photo spot, from where the beach runs south to the horizon. The beach is free, with lifeguards; visitors bring their own simple shade. The sea here is open to the waves and is rough on many days. Watch the flags: green for safe swimming, yellow for caution, red and black for no swimming. From April to August, brown sargassum seaweed can wash up on some days. There are no restaurants on the beach itself, so bring water and food, or use the restaurants in the shopping centres nearby. The R1 public bus runs along the boulevard from downtown for a small fare.

It depends on the sea, as the waves are strong on many days. Swim only when the lifeguards fly the green flag, and stay near them.
