A stop, not a destination — but every lakeside stroll crosses it anyway, and a few minutes on it gives you the town's most famous shot. Nobody 'visits' the Pont des Amours; everyone crosses it and pauses.
Before nine you have it nearly alone even in summer. By day there is a genuine photo queue on holidays — cross and come back later if you find it packed.
The Jardins de l'Europe with their rare trees one side, the Pâquier and lake the other, the boat-lined Vassé canal beneath. Everything within two hundred metres deserves the wander.

The Lovers' Bridge is an elegant early-1900s iron footbridge over the Vassé canal where it meets the lake, between the Jardins de l'Europe and the Pâquier promenade. The popular name long ago erased the official one — and the story goes that a kiss at its middle means a love that will not break. The view from it is the fame: below, wooden boats moor in a line along the canal between banks of giant plane trees, and the lake opens beyond. In autumn, when the trees turn gold, it becomes one of the most photographed scenes in France. The bridge itself takes two minutes — but it is the hinge of every stroll: gardens one way, green and lake the other, and the long east-shore promenade starting beside it.
