Over the bay.
Praia do Madeiro and its headland, Ponta do Madeiro, lie on the Pipa coast in Tibau do Sul, Rio Grande do Norte, between Cacimbinhas beach and the Baía dos Golfinhos, the Bay of Dolphins, about four kilometres from the village centre on the road to Tibau do Sul. You can walk there from the Baía dos Golfinhos, but check the tide table, as the route along the sand becomes impossible at high tide. In the Pipa Ecological Sanctuary on the Baía dos Golfinhos cliff, trails lead to several lookouts over the bay and Praia do Madeiro, including the Dolphin Lookout, and dolphins are often seen in the neighbouring bay. Hotels with sea views sit on top of the Madeiro cliff. The Ponta do Madeiro end is almost deserted and exposed to the open sea with strong waves, while the stretch near the hotels is calmer. Walking up to the top of the cliff from central Pipa takes more than forty minutes.
