The Sesquicentennial cable-stayed bridge, officially the Mestre João Isidoro França Bridge, was designed to mark the 150th anniversary of Teresina, capital of Piauí, opened in March 2010 and became one of the city's leading landmarks. It crosses the Poti River, linking the centre with the east. The reinforced-concrete bridge is 363 metres long over six spans, carried by 35 stays from a single mast, with no piers in the river to spare the environment. At the top of the mast is a metal lookout nearly a hundred metres up, reached by two lifts, and at night the mast is lit by a system that changes colour every fifteen minutes. It is named after Teresina's first master builder, who helped found «Vila Nova do Poti», the city's first name, in 1848. Note: the lookout has been closed for about two years because its lifts broke down, and repairs were still being studied in 2026. The bridge is best seen and photographed at night from the riverbank.
