Popa Falls is a set of rapids on the Okavango River in northeast Namibia. White water rushes between many dark rocks, tall grasses and trees grow on small islands, thick savanna woodland lines both banks, and golden evening light falls on the water. The rapids lie in the Popa Game Park, where the river crosses the Caprivi Strip between Divundu and Bagani. When the river is low, the drop of about 4 m shows. The park is tiny, just 0.25 km², was founded in 1989 and holds hippos, crocodiles and 417 bird species. Mahango Game Park lies 14 km away. You walk the paths to see the rushing water, watch birds on the banks and sit by the river late in the day. The rapids are about 4 km in a straight line southeast of Divundu. The river has crocodiles, so do not swim, and keep to the walkways and away from the water's edge.
