A superyacht marina and waterfront district in Tivat, built on the site of a naval arsenal the Austrians founded in 1889, which remained a military base for more than a century before becoming a modern marina. A long promenade runs along the water past huge yachts, with restaurants, cafés and shops, a pool overlooking the bay, gardens and fountains; it is calm and polished compared with lively Budva. The marina's Naval Heritage Museum tells the story of the arsenal and the navy in the Bay of Kotor, with two real submarines of the former Yugoslav navy outside; you can go inside one, the Heroj, on a guided tour. Walking the marina is free. The museum is about EUR 2, or about EUR 7 with the submarine tour, per visitor guides. Evenings, with the sun setting over the bay, are loveliest.
