Potrero de los Funes is a small town in a mountain valley at the southern end of the San Luis hills, at 900 to 1,000 metres, around a reservoir ringed by green, rocky hills. It is one of the favourite getaways near San Luis city, with a mild climate most of the year. A semi-permanent racing circuit of about six kilometres loops around the lake and has hosted car races; on ordinary days people walk, run and cycle on it. The lake hosts water sports without fuel engines, such as kayaking, pedal boats and sailing, and around it are mountain trails, zip lines and abseiling. On the east bank is a small botanical garden on the hillside. Walking around the lake is free. The town is about twenty minutes' drive from San Luis, good for half a day or a full day.
