Tabatinga is a beach 18 kilometres from central Caraguatatuba on São Paulo state's north coast, on the border with Ubatuba, about 190 kilometres from the city of São Paulo. The sea here is almost waveless, so it fills with motorboats, yachts and jet skis, and a line of small buoys about fifteen metres from the sand separates the swimming area from the boats. An upscale residential complex fronts the beach, and hotels and guesthouses at a range of prices lie nearby. The beach suits a quiet family day thanks to its still water, and can be combined with a tour of nearby Ubatuba beaches. Beaches in Brazil are open to all; stay inside the marked swimming area.
