Praia da Tiririca is one of the best-known surf beaches in Itacaré, on the southern coast of Bahia: a short beach framed by coconut palms and Atlantic forest, a short way from the town centre. The beach is known for strong, consistent waves all year round, which is why it draws surf contests run by the town's surfing association as well as some rounds of the Bahia state championship. Surf schools and board rentals work along it. It is more a place for young people and surfers than for quiet swimming, as the currents are strong; less experienced visitors tend to watch the surfers from the sand or the kiosks. It is free and can be reached on foot from the town.
