Calm water.
Barra do Jacuípe is a beach on the coast of Camaçari in Bahia, about thirty-three kilometres from Salvador. Tourists discovered it in the 1970s, when it was still a fishing village, and today the area has many residential estates and parks. The beach forms where the Jacuípe River meets the sea, combining calm river water with ocean waves in a setting considered one of the loveliest natural landscapes on the Bahian coast, and the riverbank suits gentle swimming and paddling. In the summer months, turtle nesting protected by the Tamar project can be seen along the coast as far as Guarajuba beach. The beach suits a quiet day close to Salvador on the north coast road and combines well with other beaches along the coast in a single trip.
