Praia do Amor, «Love Beach», lies in the village of Pipa in Tibau do Sul on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte. Its name comes from the shape its sand takes at low tide, ringed by cliffs that from above look like a heart. It is the favourite beach of the region's surfers, where important regional surf contests are decided. Its reddish cliffs make it one of the most photographed spots in Pipa, and at low tide natural pools form that suit a calm swim. It can only be reached along the sand at low tide, so head back before the water rises. The best view is from the Chapadão lookout on the cliff between Praia do Amor and Praia das Minas, about a twenty-minute walk from the village along the main street, Avenida Baía dos Golfinhos, especially at sunset.
