Massaguaçu is a long beach in Caraguatatuba on São Paulo state's north coast, almost entirely a steep, shelving beach that calls for care, as sea currents run very close to the shore. Very clean, it is recommended for shore fishing and surfing. Its north corner, near the highway, holds its most charming feature: a fishing village where wooden canoes and handicrafts are still made. Surf-casting contests are held along the beach all year, and it hosted the third Brazilian inter-club fishing championship in 2024. Its south corner merges with Capricórnio beach, whose small lagoon is the main draw, and its north corner with Cocanha beach, and the whole seafront has a full view of Ilhabela. It is better for walks and photographs than for swimming.

Take care: the beach shelves steeply and currents run close in.
