Vermelha do Norte, the «Northern Red» beach, lies at the start of Ubatuba's northern region on the São Paulo north coast, ringed by hills covered in Atlantic Forest. It is counted among the town's best surf beaches, drawing surfers from across the area, above all when the swell is up. It is a «tombo» beach, meaning the seabed drops steeply close to the sand, so strong, hollow waves break on it and its currents are fierce, making it dangerous for children and inexperienced swimmers. It is therefore a place for watching the surfers, enjoying the view and sitting on the sand rather than for swimming. The beach suits half a day in nature on the way to Ubatuba's other northern beaches, such as Itamambuca. Bring water and food, and if you swim, do so with great care near lifeguards and only on calm days.

Not for children or inexperienced swimmers: its waves are strong and its currents fierce; it is a surfers' beach.
