Prainha, «little beach», is considered by many the most beautiful beach in Itacaré: a symmetrical cove between two green hills to the north and south, with white sand, a blue sea and coconut groves near the sand. It is one of the most visited beaches in summer, and its waves draw surfers. It can only be reached on foot or by boat. The main trail starts at Praia da Ribeira and takes about 40 minutes, with unsigned forks, so a guide is advised, at about R$70. A shorter route of about ten minutes' walk runs through a restaurant inside the Villa de São José condominium, for about R$60 per person credited against food, with advance booking needed to drive into the condominium. The sea is open with currents and there are no lifeguards, so take care swimming. A small kiosk sells water, coconuts and drinks, alcohol included.
