A small replica of a traditional Antioquia village on top of Nutibara Hill in central Medellín, recreating the square of old mountain villages in detail: white houses with colourful wooden doors and windows and flowered balconies, a fountain in the middle, a little school and an old barber's shop. The real draw is the view: from the hill's edge you see all of Medellín spread through the valley between the mountains, with its red-brick towers, river and districts climbing the slopes. It is lovely by day and magical at sunset when the city lights up. The square has small shops selling crafts, traditional hats and local sweets, and cafés serving Colombian coffee and corn «arepas». On the way up there is a sculpture garden and paths among the trees. You can take a taxi right up to the square or walk the uphill road, though the taxi is easier. It is a simple tourist spot, but the view alone is worth the trip.
