Puerto Blest is a small harbour at the end of the Brazo Blest, one of Lake Nahuel Huapi's long arms, at the mouth of the Frías river inside Nahuel Huapi National Park, at 808 metres. Dense rainforest of coihue and cypress and steep mountains surround it on every side, so it feels greener and wetter than Bariloche. It is reached by boat from Puerto Pañuelo on the Llao Llao peninsula, about 18 kilometres along the arm, past Isla Centinela where the explorer Francisco Moreno is buried. The harbour has an old lodge, an interpretation centre and forest trails; across the bay is Puerto Cántaros, where a stepped wooden trail climbs beside Los Cántaros falls to a small lake, past an ancient alerce tree. Some trips continue by boat to the green Lake Frías. The outing takes nearly a full day from Bariloche.
