A small island south-west of Langkawi with a white sand beach and turquoise water, the usual last stop on the famous island-hopping trip most Langkawi visitors take. It can be reached only by boat. The usual island-hopping trip has three stops: the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden on Dayang Bunting island, watching sea eagles being fed around the boat near Singa Besar island, and then a stop at Beras Basah to swim and relax on the sand. The island has no hotels, only a few stalls for drinks and snacks. Island-hopping trips are sold everywhere along Cenang Beach and in hotels, at roughly thirty to fifty ringgit per person depending on the boat and the number of passengers, lasting about three to four hours, with morning and afternoon departures. Choose the morning trip, when the sea is calmer, and bring sun cream, swimwear and a towel. With children, ask about life jackets before setting off, and compare offers, as prices vary a lot.
