Three small green-topped rocky islets off the beach of Puñihuil village on Chiloé's Pacific coast, a unique nature reserve because it is one of the rare places where two penguin species nest together, the Humboldt and the Magellanic penguin. Small boats leave from the beach on short trips around the islets, nearing the rocks without landing, so visitors see penguins at their burrows and on the rocks, cormorants, sea lions and sometimes the rare marine otters that live on this coast. The beach itself is lovely, with wide sands and green hills, and small restaurants serving local seafood. The road from Ancud is rural, passing farms and hills. The penguin season runs roughly from September to March, and boats stop when the sea is rough. Boats start right from the beach, so wear shoes that can get wet.
