Punta Rata is a beach in the town of Brela on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, between the Biokovo mountain and the Adriatic, about 11 km northwest of Makarska and 42 km southeast of Split in a straight line. Brela is known as «the pearl of the Makarska Riviera». The town's symbol is the Brela Stone, a small rocky islet just off the beach topped with pine trees. In 2004 the American magazine Forbes listed the beach among the world's ten most beautiful, sixth in the world and first in Europe, and in January 2024 Lonely Planet ranked it eleventh among the world's best beaches. The beach of fine white pebbles lies in the shade of pines leaning towards the sea, and the clear water shades from pale green to blue. The Brela Stone stands in the water with its green crown, and the grey walls of Biokovo rise behind the coast. Visitors swim, lie under the pines and walk the coastal promenade between Brela and the neighbouring villages. Sunset behind the Brela Stone is a highlight; the beach is busy in high summer, so arrive early.
