Quila Quina is a beach and small village on the south shore of Lake Lácar, inside Lanín National Park, on the land of the Mapuche Curruhuinca community, opposite San Martín de los Andes. From the boat the beach looks like a small bay between forest and mountains, with clear, calm water, sand and pebbles. The nicest way there is the boat from the San Martín pier, about half an hour across the lake, though a mountain road also reaches it. The village has forest trails to a small waterfall and viewpoints, horse rides led by community members, and shops for crafts and local food. Summer swimming is cold but refreshing. The beach is open, but the boat trip and the Lanín National Park fee are paid separately.
