Ram Fortress is a 15th-century fort on a steep slope on the right bank of the Danube, in the village of Ram, municipality of Veliko Gradište, eastern Serbia, about 70 km east of Belgrade in a straight line. The fortress stands on a rock tilting towards the Danube, and its remains are in good condition. It sits on a bend of the river opposite the mouths of the Karaš and Nera rivers. At Ram the Danube is 5 km wide, the widest except for the stretch at Golubac, and the Ram-Golubac sands, islands and marshes spread along the bank around it. The fort's stone walls and towers stand on a rocky ledge above the wide blue Danube, with views from the ramparts over the river, its islands and the far bank. Its walls and towers are still clearly defined. Visitors walk inside the walls, climb the towers for views of the Danube and sit on the bank at sunset. The fortress is a good stop on the Danube route between Belgrade and Golubac Fortress.
