A glowing pool
Turquoise in the cave.
A rock cave near the coast north-east of Labuan Bajo that hides a pool of clear seawater inside, seeping in through the rocks, which glows turquoise when sunlight enters through the mouth. Visitors swim in the cool salt water among stalactites and rocks. Getting there is a small adventure: a short boat ride from Rangko village or Labuan Bajo to a nearby beach, a short walk to the entrance and a climb down steps or a ladder to the pool. Inside it is damp and fairly dark, and the light is best just before noon. The cave charges a modest entry fee, with the boat priced separately by agreement. The rocks are slippery, so water shoes help. Come before noon to see the water glow, and bring goggles. It pairs with a nearby beach for lunch on a half-day trip.

Parts of the pool are deep, so non-swimmers should wear a life jacket, usually available at the entrance, or stay at the shallow edges.
