A small coral island off Mersing whose name in the local tongue refers to the white doves that abound there, with a beach of soft white sand on one side, a sheer rocky cliff on the other, and clear turquoise water. There are no roads or cars, only a few paths among the trees. Its waters teem with life: colourful fish, squid and octopus, blacktip reef sharks feeding nearby, and sea eagles circling overhead. It lies within a protected marine park around the Mersing islands, so snorkelling here is a real pleasure. The island is a quiet resort destination; most visitors come to stay a night or more, and some resorts allow day visits on their own terms. The marine park conservation fee is thirty ringgit for foreign adults, and the season runs from March to October. Boats leave the Mersing jetty and take about half an hour, usually arranged by the resort you are staying at, so book your stay and transfer together.
