Meets the sea.
The Barra do Una Sustainable Development Reserve lies on the south coast of São Paulo state at the mouth of the Una do Prelado River, divided between Peruíbe and Iguape over 1,487 hectares, and takes in the village of Barra do Una, part of the river and coastal waters. It was first created in 2006 from part of the Juréia-Itatins Ecological Station; that law was struck down, and the reserve was created again by a new law as part of the Juréia-Itatins mosaic. The ecological station lies to the south-west and Itinguçu State Park to the north-east. The village has an association, founded in 2002, of forty-five traditional families who welcome visitors, and people come for the quiet beach where the river meets the sea and the protected forest around it. The road includes unpaved stretches, so check conditions before going.
