A geothermal area about 20 km south-west of Tengchong, its name meaning «hot sea», part of the Tengchong volcanoes and hot springs national geopark. It holds more than eighty hot springs and steam vents, ten groups of them hotter than 90 °C. Its best-known spring is the «Big Boiling Pot», a round pool 6.12 m across and 1.5 m deep, about 97 °C at the surface and 102 °C at the bottom, so its blue water boils and steams without pause and visitors cook eggs in it in baskets. Around it are springs with playful names such as «Spectacles Spring» and «Toad's Mouth», and little falls running over mineral-stained rocks. Tickets cost about CNY 50, about 90 with the round-trip electric shuttle, open from 8 am to 9 pm in summer and to 8 pm in winter, per visitor guides, and there are warm foot-soaking pools.
