A 179-kilometre circular route around the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, one of the most beautiful drives in Europe, combining mountains, lakes, rugged Atlantic coast and colourful villages. It starts in Killarney and runs through Kenmare, Sneem, Waterville, Cahersiveen, Glenbeigh and Killorglin before looping back, with the famous Ladies View over the lakes near the start, inside Killarney National Park. Along the way are the Iron Age Staigue stone fort, historic Derrynane House, golden sandy beaches, lookouts over the rocky Skellig islands out at sea and small villages for a break and a meal. The route is free and takes a full day with stops. The roads are narrow and tour coaches usually travel anticlockwise, so drivers are advised to go the same way to avoid meeting them, or to join an organised tour from Killarney.
