The Correntoso River in Villa La Angostura links Lake Correntoso with Lake Nahuel Huapi and is counted among the shortest rivers in the world, just two to three hundred metres long depending on the lake levels. Short as it is, its clear turquoise water rushes hard between rocks and forest, hence its name, «the swift one». Two bridges cross it: a wooden footbridge where visitors stop to photograph the clear water, and a large, high bridge carrying National Route 40. From the footbridge you see Lake Correntoso on one side and the river's mouth in Nahuel Huapi on the other. Fly-fishers know it for its big trout, especially at the mouth. A visit is free and short, a good stop on the Seven Lakes Road or a tour around Villa La Angostura.
