A mansion in old Chinese style in the historic town of Zhengding, north of Shijiazhuang, built between August 1984 and July 1986 for filming the famous 1987 TV series «Dream of the Red Chamber», based on one of the best-known novels of classical Chinese literature. It follows Qing-dynasty timber building rules and the novel's descriptions of the aristocratic Jia family's home, over 22,000 m² with 212 rooms, long galleries and courtyard after courtyard, and it has become one of China's best-known filming sites. Tickets cost CNY 40, open from 8.30 am to 9 pm, per visitor guides, and it pairs easily with the Zhengding city wall and the old town's other sights.
