British Columbia's main museum, founded in 1886, standing beside the Parliament Buildings on Victoria's Inner Harbour and telling the story of nature and people on Canada's west coast. In the natural history gallery a life-size woolly mammoth greets visitors, alongside reconstructed scenes of the province's habitats, from coastal rainforest to shoreline and river estuaries, with mounted animals and sounds, an experience children love. The First Peoples gallery has a reconstructed Kwakwaka'wakw clan house, masks and carvings and a sound greeting in dozens of Indigenous languages. Painted totem poles stand in the neighbouring park. The museum hosts major changing temporary exhibitions. Tickets are about C$32 per adult and may change with the temporary exhibitions, per the official site. It is a good choice on rainy or cold days.
