Rudi Monastery is a nunnery in a green valley near the bank of the Dniester, at the village of Rudi in northern Moldova. An old white church with a dark pointed roof stands on a small hill, with newer stone buildings, tidy flower gardens and forest all around. The monastery was founded in 1777 in the Principality of Moldavia. Its old church is built on a trefoil plan, with three rounded parts like a clover leaf. It is 17.70 m long and 12.30 m wide, with walls 9 m high and a tower of 20 m. You climb to the white church on the hill, which looks over the monastery and the valley. You then walk between the stone buildings with green and red roofs and the flower beds. This is a working nunnery, so dress modestly, speak quietly and do not photograph the nuns without asking. The monastery is 36 km in a straight line north-west of Soroca and about 15 km from the town of Otaci. Entry is free and you can leave a donation. You can visit it on the same day as Soroca Fortress.
