Rummu quarry is a submerged limestone quarry in Rummu, Vasalemma Parish, northern Estonia, about 39 km southwest of Tallinn in a straight line. Most of it now lies under a lake formed by groundwater, next to a huge spoil tip. Limestone and «Vasalemma marble», a limestone whose structure resembles marble, were dug here from the late 1930s. When pumping stopped in the 1990s, the quarry quickly filled with groundwater, submerging some old buildings and machinery. The clear turquoise and green lake lies over a white bed, with half-sunken concrete ruins rising from the water. Beside it rises the grey-white spoil tip, carved by water into dune-like gullies, and from its top there is a view over the lake. Visitors climb the spoil tip for the view, swim in the lake in summer, and some dive among the submerged buildings. The slopes are loose, so take care climbing, and swimming near the sunken buildings needs caution.
