Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool is a simple place in the Sabeto Valley north of Nadi, where visitors coat themselves in mud and then wash off in warm pools. It is a fun short activity near the airport, suiting half a day before or after a flight. Green mountains and a tidy garden surround it, so it feels more like a country stop than a resort. The place has no notable written history, as its fame rests on its thermal pools and mud. It has become one of the most common Nadi activities on tour programmes. Treat it as an enjoyable experience rather than a treatment. You enter along a grassy walkway lined with clipped shrubs towards small pools behind a white fence, with green-roofed timber shelters. Large trees behind them cast deep shade, with the Sabeto mountains on the horizon. You may see a dark mud pool and clearer pools for bathing, with shaded seating between them. It lies north of Nadi, reached by car or on a short tour. Bring old modest swimwear, as mud can stain fabric, along with a towel and water. Avoid it with open cuts, as well as long soaks in hot water if you are pregnant or have a health problem, and ask before getting in. Cyclone season runs from November to April, so check the weather before you travel.
