A broad, gentle waterfall right beside the road, spilling over tiers of moss-covered limestone into a shallow pool, popular with Thai families for its easy access, with no long walk or climb. King Rama V mentioned it on his travels, and it has been a popular outing ever since. Visitors wade in the shallow water and sit beneath the falls, surrounded by food and drink stalls and a small market. Near the entrance stands an old steam locomotive from the Death Railway era that visitors pose with, and Nam Tok station, the last stop on today's line, is minutes away. Entry is free and it is visited in the daytime. The falls are at their best from August to November; in the dry season from March to May they may dwindle almost to nothing, so do not make the trip for them alone in those months. A fun rest stop on a Hellfire Pass and Tham Krasae trip, and very suitable for children. On holidays it fills with local families.

Erawan is far more beautiful and needs half a day; Sai Yok Noi is a quick, easy stop on the Hellfire Pass road. With only one day, choose Erawan.
