Sail Rock is a huge rock standing in the sea just off the shore in Hengchun Township, Pingtung County, southern Taiwan, within Kenting National Park, about 3 km east of Kenting town in a straight line. Locals call it Chuanfan Shi. The rock takes its name from its shape, which looks like a sailing ship from a distance. It was once part of the rock terrace that joins it to the Pingtung mainland, before it broke away and came to rest at the water's edge. The dark rock, capped with green plants, rises from a flat coral platform battered by blue ocean waves. A small sandy beach and coral rocks surround it, and at sunrise the rock and sky behind it glow orange and pink, as it faces east on the Hengchun Peninsula. Visitors stop at the rock on the coast road for photos and walk the beach and nearby coral rocks at low tide. It is easy to combine with Eluanbi Lighthouse and Longpan Park nearby in the south of the peninsula.
