Entry is free but activities add up: reindeer 20-40, huskies 40-100, photo 50, lunch 20 — budget 150-250 euros a person with two activities.

Exactly on the Arctic Circle: Santa Claus Village, eight kilometres north of Rovaniemi, is Father Christmas's "official home" — he receives visitors in his office every day of the year, free, in almost any language, and only the photograph with him is bought. The white Arctic Circle line crosses the square and millions of photos are taken on it, and the main post office stamps your letters with the Arctic postmark and sends your card next Christmas. Around the square is a whole village: the reindeer farm and its sleighs, the husky park, a snow centre, restaurants and Lappish craft shops, and glass cabins for sleeping under the aurora — plus the underground SantaPark on a separate ticket inside the neighbouring hill. Winter from November to March is the season: snow, blue darkness and lights, Santa at his height. Summer brings the midnight sun, lower prices and Santa himself, but no snow.
