The Indonesian armed forces museum, in a mansion that was once the residence of one of President Sukarno's wives, telling the history of the Indonesian military since the war of independence. What draws visitors most is its outdoor yard full of fighter jets, helicopters, tanks, missiles and guns. Inside are halls of dioramas depicting independence battles and military operations, weapons, uniforms, flags and insignia, and personal effects of military leaders. Next door is the small Waspada Purbawisesa museum on security events in the nation's history. Tickets are a token fee. The outdoor exhibits are easy to see and photograph, though climbing on them is forbidden. Children and fans of aircraft and military history love it, and an hour is enough. It is in south Jakarta's business district near transit stations.
