The Jungfraujoch (the "Top of Europe") is higher (3,454 m), more famous, and has the Ice Palace and glacier plateau — but it is **far more expensive**, more crowded and takes longer to reach. The Schilthorn is relatively cheaper and quieter, its revolving restaurant and Bond story are unique, and its view of the famous trio is **better** because you see it from opposite rather than from among it. For a first visit and the "Top of Europe": Jungfraujoch. For value and the view: Schilthorn.

The Schilthorn is a 2,970-metre peak above the Lauterbrunnen valley carrying **the world's first revolving restaurant** — Piz Gloria, which completes a full turn in 45 minutes, so over lunch you watch a 360-degree panorama taking in the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and more than two hundred peaks, with Mont Blanc and Germany's Black Forest on clear days. Its global fame is cinematic: the James Bond film **On Her Majesty's Secret Service** (1969) was shot here while the restaurant was still being built — and the production company funded its completion in exchange for filming. The summit now holds the interactive Bond World 007 (free with the ticket) with scenes and effects from the film, the cliff-edge "Thrill Walk", and a glass viewing platform. It is reached by a chain of cable cars from Stechelberg via Gimmelwald and Mürren (about 30–45 minutes up) — and the journey is half the pleasure. Expensive, but among Switzerland's best-value summits compared with the more famous and pricier Jungfraujoch.
