Schwabacher Landing is a quiet spot on side channels of the Snake River inside Grand Teton National Park. Still pools edged with pines and grass mirror the jagged, snow-covered peaks of the Teton Range. Grand Teton National Park covers about 1,300 square kilometres of northwestern Wyoming, taking in the main peaks of the 64 km Teton Range and most of the northern part of the valley known as Jackson Hole. It lies 16 km south of Yellowstone. It was established in 1929, and human history in the region goes back at least 11,000 years. You walk a short, flat path along the water; photographers come at sunrise, when the sun lights the peaks and their glow is reflected in the still pools. Beavers or moose may be near the water, so keep a safe distance. It is about 27 km in a straight line north of the town of Jackson. The gravel road to it is usually closed in winter.
