A cultural and educational landmark on the Salmiya seafront, opened in 2000 in a building shaped like the sail of a traditional dhow, with one of the largest aquariums in the Middle East, an interactive science discovery hall and a giant-screen cinema. The aquarium shows the habitats of the Arabian Gulf, the seas and tropical forests, with sharks, rays, turtles and colourful reef fish, tidal pools, a mangrove and reptiles, a journey that families and children love. The discovery hall has science experiments children touch and learn from, and outside on the quay is a harbour of traditional wooden boats, among them the famous Fateh Al-Khair, telling Kuwait's maritime history of pearl diving and trade. Aquarium tickets are about KD 4 per adult, with an all-access ticket costing more, per visitor guides. It is one of Kuwait's best family outings all year round.
