A small fishing town on the Selangor coast ringed by vast, orderly rice fields that stretch to the horizon; it is one of the most productive rice-growing areas in Malaysia, and Kuala Lumpur residents come for its views and its seafood. The fields are planted twice a year, so they are a vivid green after sowing in March and April and again in September and October, then turn into a golden sea before the harvest in late May and June and again in November and December. Time your visit to the colour you want; after the harvest the fields look bare. Straight country roads cut across the fields, good for a drive or a bike ride, with photo spots, small cafés and mills selling local rice. On the nearby coast is the fishing village with its colourful boats and the well-known wishing tree by the beach. You will need a car, and it combines in one day with Kuala Selangor, Melawati Hill and a fireflies trip in the evening. The sun is strong here, so come in the morning or before sunset with a hat and water.
