Serra do Corvo Branco is part of the Serra Geral, the range that divides Santa Catarina's coast from its interior. State highway SC-370 crosses it between Urubici, at 915 metres, and Grão-Pará, at 110 metres, a drop of 805 metres, and its showpiece is Brazil's deepest rock cutting, where walls about 90 metres high close in on the road. Its name, «White Crow», comes from a rare white-feathered bird, the king vulture, which local people mistakenly called a crow. In 2026 the road is being paved and concreted; it was expected to reopen in alternating single-lane traffic from July, with the works finished by the end of the year, so check the road's status before you go.
