An aquarium in the old Al Khan area on Sharjah's shore, next to the Sharjah Maritime Museum, showing life from the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman in large tanks. It is run by the Sharjah Museums Authority. Highlights include a glass tunnel where fish swim around visitors, coral-reef tanks, a touch pool where children can meet sea creatures up close, and fossil fish preserved in limestone. Shark feedings take place on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays from 13:00 to 13:30, and the main tank is fed Saturday to Thursday at 10:00. Around the building are gardens, a waterside promenade and a berth for traditional boats. A joint ticket with the Maritime Museum costs 25 AED for adults and 15 AED for children aged 2 to 12, according to the Sharjah Museums Authority, and is free for over-60s and people with disabilities with a companion. It opens Saturday to Thursday 8:00 to 20:00 and Friday 16:00 to 20:00, with different hours in Ramadan.
