A theme park in the style of the Song dynasty on Zhijiang Road south of West Lake, opened in 1996, with streets of old shops, a bridge, theatres and folk performances that recall life in Hangzhou when it was the capital of the Southern Song. Its highlight is «The Romance of the Song Dynasty», an hour-long show of song, dance, acrobatics and stage effects that tells stories from Hangzhou's past, from the Liangzhu culture to the Song court and the legend of the White Snake, usually staged several times a day. A ticket for the park and the show costs about CNY 300, more for better seats, and the park is open from 9 am to 9 pm, per visitor guides. Book the show ahead, as the evening ones sell out.
