A large public park in the heart of Songdo, the new city built on land reclaimed from the sea west of Incheon since the early 2000s. It was inspired by New York's Central Park and covers 41 hectares among modern glass towers, with a seawater canal at its centre that is refreshed every day. The park is a place for an outing more than a landmark: walking and cycling paths, lawns where families pitch tents at weekends, bridges over the canal, and a small hill with deer. A water taxi crosses the canal, and kayaks and small boats can be hired. It is at its best in the evening, when the towers around it, among them the Northeast Asia Trade Tower, are lit and reflected in the water. At the eastern end are restaurants and cafés, and beside the park is the Canal Walk shopping complex. The park is free and always open, and it is close to Incheon International Airport, so it suits a stroll before an evening flight or after arrival.
