A large mall in Sunway City, Subang Jaya, opened in 1997 and known to everyone by its facade inspired by ancient Egypt: a giant lion statue in the shape of a sphinx at the main entrance, standing before a glass pyramid, in the Egyptian Revival style. It has hundreds of shops and restaurants, a cinema, an ice-skating rink used by children and adults alike, and a bowling alley, and it connects to the Sunway complex with its hotels, restaurants and walkways. It sits right next to the Sunway Lagoon water park, so many families combine a day at the park with an evening of shopping and dinner at the mall. It usually opens daily from ten in the morning to ten at night, and entry is free. Get there by the BRT bus line from nearby train stations, or by taxi in about half an hour from the centre depending on traffic.
