An island sunset
Gold over the sea.
A grassy hill north of Labuan Bajo town, one of its best-known sunset viewpoints, looking out from the top over the Flores Sea dotted with small islands, the wooden boats anchored in the bay and the area's rolling hills. At sunset the sun sinks behind the islands in a golden scene. The climb is short, about ten minutes on a dirt path, and the spot fills before sunset with visitors and photographers, while locals sell drinks and snacks. The hill turns green in the rainy season and golden in the dry. There is a token fee at the entrance, and the road is a little rough at the end, so a higher car or motorbike suits better. Come an hour before sunset and bring a small torch for the way down. It is the perfect first-evening activity before a Komodo trip.

The two are neighbours with similar views; Sylvia is better known and busier, Amelia a little quieter. Either gives a superb sunset.
