A long canyon in the Taihang Mountains on the border of Henan and Shanxi, walled by towering red cliffs of layered rock that look like built walls, with waterfalls spilling into clear pools; it is a 5A scenic area. Visitors take the park bus between three areas: Taohua, «Peach Blossom», valley with its waterfalls, stepped pools and turquoise water between the rocks; Wangxiangyan with its sheer cliffs; and the grand canyon itself. Above the cliffs runs the Taihang Tianlu, the «sky road» along the mountain edge, with viewing platforms looking down into the canyon from a dizzying height; not all of it is open yet. Tickets cost CNY 140 with the bus for the three areas and are valid for forty-eight hours; it is open from 8 am to 5.30 pm with last entry at 4.30 pm, per visitor guides.
