A long white-sand beach on Belitung's north coast with shallow, calm turquoise water, and the launch point for island-hopping boats, the starting place for trips to Lengkuas island and its lighthouse, Bird Island and others. Offshore stands the famous Batu Garuda, a granite rock shaped like a bird's head. Rows of colourful wooden boats line the beach, with seafood restaurants and huts and nearby hotels and resorts; it is one of the best places to stay on Belitung for those who come for the sea and the islands. The beach is free, and the water is shallow and calm on most days, good for family swimming. Boat prices vary by the number of islands and group size, so agree them before setting off. Come in the morning for the island trip, when the sea is calmer, and return in the late afternoon for sunset on the beach. It is minutes from famous Tanjung Tinggi Beach.
